Designing Solutions documents 10 projects made for 10 individuals. Each individual was interviewed and from that interview a brief for their project was created. Each project set out to solve a specific problem. Problems ranged from creating a laptop stand, all the way to figuring out the best way to support a taco.
The books cover is made from laser engraved wood, the same material used for many of the projects within the book. It gives readers a tactile experience while reading and is as if they're holding the objects themselves.
The colours for this project were chosen for their ties to blueprints and construction while also being vibrant and playful.
Each project is adorned by a vellum overlay that reveals the dimensional CAD file used to create each individual piece.
Before anything was created on the computer it started as a drawing in a sketchbook. Sketching allowed for the quick exploration of ideas. This was essential for the tight deadlines of this project.
